Wincanton has been shortlisted in the category of 2017 Haulier of the Year at the Motor Transport Awards in recognition of the dedication the company has displayed in delivering excellent service to customers and adding value through areas such as health and safety, innovation and talent.
To be shortlisted in the prestigious Haulier of the Year category recognises the significant contribution made by people across our business. It also acknowledges our recent successes, as well as the quality of our service in providing agile logistics solutions in the UK and Ireland.
Our people have been key to our success and, as highlighted in our award submission, there are significant resources and initiatives designed to attract, develop and look after our employees. This track record of nurturing talent was further underlined recently when three female colleagues were shortlisted for the FTA Everywoman awards. Our company-wide approach also includes a relentless focus on health and safety which we place at the heart of everything we do and continue to deliver year on year improvements and industry leading results.
Another factor which contributed to our shortlisting was our strong financial performance. The last three years have seen significant financial performance improvements, providing shareholder value through a rising share price and dividend payment. This is underpinned by long term partnerships and has been bolstered by recent contract wins including: Wickes, Britvic and wilko, which have been secured through a strong service and value proposition.
The launch of our W² Labs programme earlier this year, which challenges start-ups from around the world to develop pioneering solutions to challenges facing the industry, is another indication of our intent to be at the forefront of digital innovation in the supply chain. We aim to lead the way in developing the digitised supply chain.
Wincanton will battle it out against Abbey Logistics and Elddis Transport for the honour which will be announced at an awards dinner at the Grosvenor House hotel on 5 July.
