Wincanton announces Director of Energy appointment

Wincanton, the largest British logistics company, has announced the appointment of Jonathan Shortis as the company’s new Director of Energy. Reporting to Chris Fenton, Managing Director Industrial & Transport, Jonathan is responsible for the financial, operational and development leadership of Wincanton’s fuels, gases markets as well as specialist services including milk collections and delivery.

Jonathan joins Wincanton from his last position as Business Unit Director for Government and Defence in Kuehne + Nagel (UK). He brings to his new role substantial experience in the energy sector having started his professional life with BP Oil. Thereafter, he progressed through a number of engineering, operations, sales and supply chain roles in ICI, before joining DHL (Exel) in 2000. Here he held a number of senior Executive positions including Vice President for Energy for Europe, Middle East and Africa for DHL Group and VP for Global Energy Development at DHL Supply Chain. In addition, Jonathan has sat on a number of industry bodies and committees including Transport for London’s Construction Logistics Advisory Board, the Freight Transport Association’s Olympics Board and the Olympic Delivery Authority CEO Board.
