Wincanton, the largest British logistics company, is pleased to announce three employees have been shortlisted for the FTA Everywoman in Transport & Logistics awards to celebrate the most inspirational women within the transport and logistics sector.

By raising awareness of the wide range of opportunities available, the goal of the awards is to encourage a greater number of women to pursue a career within the logistics and supply chain sector.

Jane Davies, Group HR Director at Wincanton, said of the announcement:

“To see three of our employees recognised is a fantastic achievement. Each one is a champion for improving the visibility of women in what is widely considered to be a male dominated sector. I look forward to working with each of them to continue the great work they have started. I wish all the finalists the best of luck.”

The finalists work for different areas of the company. Amanda Slowley, National Operations Manager, has nearly two decades of experience within the logistics sector, having begun her career with the UK arm of oil exploration company ConocoPhillips (now known as Phillips66) before joining Wincanton in 2001. She is nominated for the Leader category of the Freight award. A supporter of health and safety, Amanda was responsible for a behavioural safety project which has since gained industry recognition with an award from the Energy Institute.

Nominated for the Leader category of the Warehousing award is Tracey Clifford whose current role is Head of Home Delivery which includes responsibility for delivering Wincanton’s premium white glove home delivery service. With an emphasis on encouraging young women in to the industry, Tracey is a mentor to numerous colleagues. She’s passionate about identifying and nurturing talent and has helps to promote Wincanton’s sponsorship of the Novus Trust.

Gillian Watson has been nominated in the Above & Beyond category of the Freight award. Her Wincanton career began in 2003 within the company’s retail business unit and in 2015 her career took her in a completely new direction when she moved to the construction team and now holds the role of Customer Relations Manager. She has promoted the role of women in the male-dominated logistics industry.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held on 21st June.
