Logistics professionals are a major component of the backbone of UK life.

This has been especially evident over the early months of 2020, with the COVID-19 pandemic having opened many eyes to the hard work that goes into ensuring shelves are stocked and the products we all need available.

We recently* caught up with Hollie Ridley, one of the #LogisticsHeroes in our Wincanton for Wilko team. From a young age, Hollie wanted to be a lorry driver and has fulfilled that ambition. She now combines her love for a life on the road with being a Transport Team Leader in the operation; helping to organise routing and schedules for a dedicated group of drivers and technicians.

Hollie was recently named as a finalist in the ‘Above and Beyond’ category of the Freight Award in the 2020 Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards. These prestigious awards celebrate trailblazing female professionals in the logistics and supply chain industry. Although the world of HGV driving and logistics has traditionally been more popular among men, Hollie has challenged the stereotypes and achieved many of her career goals.

As she says: “it’s not just a man’s job, women can do it too.”
