Our programmes take a three-to-five-year view on where our capability gaps will be. It ensures we develop the right skills and follow the appropriate career paths to meet these requirements.

Wincanton graduate programme


Our 2-year graduate programme offers the opportunity to rotate across the business to develop knowledge, skills and experience. You will be expected to contribute and have an impact from day one fulfilling 'actual roles’ within our busy operation. Supported by a structured learning and development programme and relevant job-related training, you will also complete a level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship programme in the first year.   

The opportunity to get involved in projects outside your area are also available and you will be fully immersed in the workings of the business, interacting with key decision makers whilst at the same time being coached and mentored by an experienced manager.  

In return, we require you to be eager to learn, keen to get ahead, ambitious, confident in challenging the ‘norm’ and be willing to experience different aspects of the business.

One year placement

We have an established industrial placement programme that offers great experience and structured development to our students. Fulfilling actual roles, you will have the opportunity to learn about the operations and work on specific projects that will support your learning goals and get you out in the real world of logistics.  Many of our placement students return to Wincanton once they have completed their degree. Mentored by an experienced manager, you will be fully immersed in the workings of the business. In return, we require you to be eager to learn, keen to get ahead be willing to experience different aspects of the business.

Apprenticeships

We believe that our people are our most important asset and our apprenticeship programme it’s a great opportunity to kick-start your career and earn whilst you learn. Apprenticeships last for a minimum of 12 months and one day, up to 48 months dependent on the type and level of apprenticeship. There is also a 20% 'off the job' requirement, which can include training, one-to-one meetings, work-based projects and external applications.

Degree apprenticeships

The four-year Supply Chain Leadership apprenticeship provides you with a great platform to kick-start your career in logistics. The programme offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, using innovative approaches to help our businesses to improve the way we work. You’ll gain broad work experience and develop your skills, whilst working towards a professional qualification and earning a salary.
