Innovation is key to our success and vital for our future. To embrace the opportunities we see in our industry today, and also prepare for the challenges of tomorrow, we launched W2 Labs to find and develop the very best examples of innovation from around the world.
With more than 90 applications from across the globe, 24 start-ups invited to pitch day and six chosen to progress through to the development stage, we’ve now made it to the end of our formal W2 Labs process with today’s demo day.
Each of the start-ups participating in our 10-week development programme have had access to our business, resources and people in order to gather the data and practical insight they need to fully demonstrate the scope of their businesses and innovations. Today’s demo day is the opportunity for each of the start-up teams and Wincanton sponsors to show the wider business what we’ve achieved in just this short timeframe and also highlight the possibilities for development going forward.
Marcos Hart, Business Optimisation and Transformation Director, Wincanton said:
“We launched our W2 labs programme to find partners with ideas and innovations capable of helping us mould, and even dictate, the future of the UK logistics industry. The progress we’ve made together over the past 10 weeks has surpassed my expectations and I genuinely believe we’ve found and developed some truly ground breaking opportunities.”
With the end of the formal project we have the opportunity to agree commercial terms with the start-ups and continue to develop these ideas for the benefit of our business, our customers and their operations.
