Managing change and logistics implementations

At Wincanton we have developed and refined our change management approach to ensure we help our customers through the successful implementation of logistics projects, regardless of how complex and demanding. We understand that change-focused projects represent a different management challenge to running the day to day business, so we maintain a dedicated team of change experts who adhere to a structured approach to get the job done with minimum disruption to the business.
An approach based on innovation and leadership
Through managing supply chain projects for some of the biggest brands across the UK, we have developed a structured approach, known as Pinnacle, which is based on project innovation and change leadership. Irrespective of the project scale, all our experts work to PRINCE 2 project management standards. From new starts-ups, TUPE transfers, and WMS implementations, through to continuous improvement programmes, our collaborative approach supports our customers’ business needs while ensuring that changes made are sustainable and support a ‘business as usual’ focus on delivery.
Enabling successful logistics change
Our programme and project management approach embraces the full project life-cycle from development of a business solution through to successful implementation and beyond. Our programme and project management team are experts in delivering large scale, complex and business critical change projects. Our primary aim is to tightly manage and control the business changes, costs and potential risks, through effective project governance, to achieve the project goals.
Operational implementation
Managing an operational start-up often requires a very different skill set to managing a steady state operation. To minimise risk within our operations, we have a team of operational experts who work with and help shape Wincanton’s best practice.
Our approach has been developed through experience of working on an extensive range of projects, from start-ups to continuous improvement programmes. The team adds value by introducing best practice, implementing robust business processes and putting in place procedures and metrics to ensure consistent high quality across the operations.
Managing TUPE transfers
Customers looking for continual improvement across their supply chain often transfer their operations to different 3PL providers. Understanding that people are nervous about change, Wincanton has developed a TUPE approach, based on industry best practice, which provides a structured methodology to managing TUPE transfers.
By focusing not only on people but also on productivity improvements, operational changes and our customers’ objectives, we ensure that the transition to Wincanton is seamless and a positive experience for all new colleagues.
