Wincanton is the UK's largest alternative water supplier providing a truly nationwide service backed by a dedicated operational team. Our services range from emergency water supply in response to major incidents such as floods, burst mains and natural disasters, working with a number of large water companies, to the provision of water to support industry requirements such as air conditioning.
Water services emergency water supply
We support water companies, helping them meet their Security and Emergency Measures Direction (SEMD) and mutual aid obligations, offering a flexible solution that can cater for large or small-scale incidents around the clock. Our dedicated emergency response team provides immediate support in the case of unplanned, disrupted water supply.
We have access to a range of equipment to support the provision of emergency alternative drinking water including static tanks with from 1,000 to 28,000 litre capacity and emergency bottled water deployment. During 2010 we supported water companies by providing over four million litres of potable drinking water during emergency situations. We also take part in many annual capability exercises, ensuring that our service supports our customers ability to deliver reliable water supply to their end users.

Excellent health, safety and hygiene standards
As in all our bulk tanker service offerings, we continue to maintain our high standards of health, safety and training. We have a dedicated health and safety team with a proven track record of delivering industry leading standards. We train our teams specifically to each of our customer’s needs, carrying out stringent internal audits to ensure that our standards meet and exceed the relevant industry legislation.
Our food grade tankers and static tanks are cleaned regularly and to the correct standards by our dedicated on site cleaning facility. Our operational team is fully trained in the handling of potable water and have HACCP plans in place in order to comply with HSE legislation. And, in addition, our management team is fully EUSR trained.
