Wincanton and Eddie Stobart team up with Nestlé Purina
Leading European supply chain provider, Wincanton, and logistics specialist, Eddie Stobart, have teamed up to achieve OHSAS:18001 certification on their warehouse and transport contract with Nestlé Purina Petcare.
To achieve the certificate, which recognises best practice in health and safety, Wincanton worked collaboratively with Eddie Stobart and Nestlé Purina Petcare to create a policy, defining employees’ roles in upholding the safe running of the contract.
In addition, BSI Management Systems awarded the certificate as a result of Wincanton’s and Eddie Stobart’s harmonised induction process, site safety consultations that involved both companies’ employees and monthly briefs on Wincanton’s SHELA (Safety Health and Environment Learning Aid) initiative.
Wincanton manages the warehousing and co-packing on behalf of Nestlé Purina Petcare at Hams Hall, Coleshill, Warwickshire, while Eddie Stobart handles the contract’s national transport.
Chris Rees, European Supply Chain Director, Nestlé Purina Petcare, commented: “We are delighted with the results of the initiative, which has resulted in a real step change in the employees’ attitudes towards health and safety. It is encouraging to see how Wincanton and Eddie Stobart have worked together improving not only on-site safety, but, developing a culture that delivers a continuous improvement in health and safety.”
Jeff Anderson, Managing Director, Wincanton, said: “We are used to working with both manufacturing and retail customers to generate further efficiencies in their respective supply chains, and this kind of collaboration illustrates best practice in our industry. Health and safety is of paramount importance and our initiative hasbeen received extremely positively across the Nestlé Purina contract.”
Tim Davison, Contracts Director, Stobart Group Ltd, added: “Working with our customers to improve all aspects of our service is something that we continually strive for and we are pleased that our employees have been recognised for their hard work. “
