Here comes the Olympics - help plan for the unexpected

Not long to go now, and here at Wincanton, it seems that we have been preparing for the Olympics for ever with a dedicated operational support team, regular meetings since last September and hosting workshops for Transport for London. While there's no doubt that there will disruptions to the road network, particularly in London, for those companies who have done their preparations including briefing and setting expectations for their customers, we can at least know that we've done our best to minimise the impact.

However, with unplanned diversions and restrictions perfectly possible, ensuring that customers, drivers, transport managers and planners are kept up to date with developments as they occur will be an almighty challenge. Spare a thought for Transport for London, who have the job of keeping the whole capital moving during what will be the world's largest peacetime logistical event. We'll be doing our bit to help, feeding in daily updates from a cross-section of our London oriented businesses that will be used in their daily freight report and assist decision making across TfL, Highway and other authorities. If you would like to receive daily updates during the Games from Transport for London, simply email freight@tfl.gov.uk and ask to be put on their mailing list.
