Our strategy is to be the best supply chain solutions provider in the markets in which we operate, based on our expertise in solution design and our strong, proven operational capabilities.
In August 2011 we completed the sale of our German Road operations and businesses in Central & Eastern Europe and the Netherlands. We also announced the proposed sale of the remaining Mainland European operations, which completed in December 2011. This places the strategic focus clearly our core markets of the UK and Ireland where we have a leading position and see the greatest potential for growth.
In the UK & Ireland, our objective is to build on our competences in the design, implementation and management of supply chain solutions. We aim to capitalise on the opportunities of a changing market, further strengthening our leadership position in markets such as retail, construction, defence and containers and further developing our warehousing and transport services. We will continue to develop new markets such as the public sector, where we can leverage our proven skills in new areas, either through strategic partnerships, working as part of consortia or supplying services in our own right.
