Using resources more efficiently
Our commitment to environmental sustainability, drives us to reduce long term our consumption of increasingly scarce natural resources, particularly fossil fuels. We aim to deliver benefits to the global community by reducing our contribution to climate change and increasing our contribution to energy security. Our progress in carbon emissions reduction was recognised in December 2010 with certification of our UK operations against the Carbon Trust Standard.
Environmental performance measurement
Wincanton is committed to measuring progress against its environmental objectives. As well as holding our operations accountable with internal planning and reporting measures, we also report our carbon emissions through the Carbon Disclosure Project and our UK operations have been certified against the Carbon Trust Standard. We work closely with the FTA and are members of the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme. Our Environmental Management System is certified to ISO14001.
Customer value through environmental innovation
As a logistics service provider, by reducing our environmental impacts, we reduce those of our customers’ too. Wincanton understands sustainable logistics and can deliver collaborative solutions that utilise scale and innovation to ‘green’ our customers’ supply chains more effectively than they can themselves.
